I was HONORED to get to sat down with Amanda Lorenz on an Instagram LIVE recently and THANKFULLY we recorded the whole convo! We talked a little bit about what she's up to right now preparing for her second pro ball season, how she speaks to herself in the box all the way to her POWERFUL message about her "why" and her purpose as a softball player and role model for young athletes.
I met Amanda roughly 2 years ago, but I'll get back to that story later...
Before even meeting her, I had always admired the way she played the game. These are a few things that stuck out to me from watching her from afar:
- She had a GREAT relationship with her head coach Tim Walton. She respected him by looking him in the eye when he had something to say to her, and they even chuckled together from time to time, showing that they were having fun
- She was determined to make GREAT contact when she swung the bat. She ALWAYS swung HARD, no matter the pitch she was going for. She went ALL OUT, and I loved that.
- She held her head high after a strikeout and went STRAIGHT to the person on-deck to tell her what she saw and (what looked like) PUMP HER UP for her at-bat.
- She was ALWAYS the loudest in the dugout cheering for her teammates!
- In her interviews...she ALWAYS put her teammates before herself even when the interviewer would try to give her all the credit.
..and of course you can't help but love watching all those clutch at bats!

Now fast forward to when I met her. It was two years ago, at Jen Schroeder's annual Catching Retreat in Anaheim, CA. At the time, all I knew about her were the things I mentioned above, and she had just finished another All-American season her junior year.
Knowing of the legendary career she's having at one of the top SEC schools in the country, OF COURSE all I wanted to do was get to know what type of a player she was on the field, but what I started admiring the MOST about her was who she was off the field.
Since that retreat, we've kept in touch and kept reaching out every so often admiring each other's work from afar. Which lead me to the idea to want to interview her on Instagram.
I got to know the BEAMING ray of light she was as a person, and I wanted everyone I knew to see this in person.
So, that's exactly what we did.
Guys...Amanda Lorenz is the REAL DEAL...and this interview will tell you ALL the reasons why I believe that with my whole heart.
If I had a daughter, Amanda would be the first person I tell her to model herself after.
